HOW TO GET THERE?

Land - Acuatic Transportation

Rio Indio offers pick up service in our comfortable minivan at any of the hotels in San José to Puerto Viejo of Sarapiquí . On this 1 hour and 30 minute ride through the exotic and virgin Braulio Carrillo National Park, you will enjoy panoramic views along the highway. Arriving in Puerto Viejo guests will then enjoy a scenic 2 hour and 45 minute boat ride up the Sarapiquí, Colorado rivers and the majestic San Juan River to Río Maíz Corn Reserve, where the Lodge is located. During this journey you will become a spectator of first line of the flora and fauna that surround the rivers. Birds, butterflies, sloths and perhaps crocodiles will keep your video cameras going. The gold and emerald green shades of the cool waters of the rivers emerge gently and softly into just one path to the Lodge…

Air - Acuatic Transportation

Rio Indio offers shuttle service between any hotel in the San Jose Metropolitan area and to either Tobias Bolanos airport or the International Airport Juan Santa Maria. From there you will board a 30 minutes flight (a two engines plane) to Barra del Colorado. An adventure you will never forget. Flying the skies of the wildlife is an everlasting experience..! Following your brief flight guest will enjoy a 1hour and 15 minutes scenic river boat ride throughout the Colorado and San Juan rivers to Rio Indio Lodge, where our always ready staff will be waiting for you…

 

HOW TO GET FROM MANAGUA TO RIO INDIO LODGE?

Opinion 1

From Managua to Granada it takes 45 minutes by van. You'll take a Roman Lake Line 55 passenger catamaran boat from Granada to San Carlos dock which takes approximately 4 hours. From San Carlos you'll take a river taxi roofed boat with comfortable seating provided by Caño Blanco. that passes through channels and lagoons and takes you to San Juan del Norte. It takes 6 to 7 hours depending on water level. Along the way, you can enjoy views and sightings of the different local species of flora and fauna - mammals, birds, reptiles and magnificent exotic plants. The boat is operated by an experienced navigator, and you are accompanied by a bilingual guide.

RATES:

2 to 3 people: $199.00 per person one way

4 to 5 people: $150.00 per person one way

6 and up: $100.00 per person one way

Lunch and soft drinks are available for an additional $10.00.

 

Opinion 2

Flights from Managua to San Carlos aboard La Costeña air service cost $50.00 US per person one way. From the local airport to San Carlos dock it takes 15 minutes by car. On arrival in San Carlos you'll have to take river taxi transportation aboard a roofed boat with comfortable seating provided by Caño Blanco Marina. This journey passes through channels and lagoons towards your destination in San Juan del Norte; depending on water levels the trips lasts 6 to 7 hours. Along the way, you can enjoy views and sightings of the different local species of flora and fauna - mammals, birds, reptiles and magnificent exotic plants. The boat is operated by an experienced navigator, and you are accompanied by a bilingual guide.

2 to 3 people: $199.00 per person one way

4 to 5 people: $150.00 per person one way

6 and up: $100.00 per person one way
