Due to the wide variety of fruit trees and the presence of
certain insects over 220 species of birds have been identified
in the Rio Indio area. In the old San Juan del Norte area,
dubbed "Greytown" during British rule, there is
a natural feeding place where birdwatchers (birders) can observe
several species of birds, in addition to visiting the ruins
of this "ghost town." This half-day tour is made
on boat in an area 15 minutes away from the lodge, and includes
transportation, guide, beverages, fresh fruit, and snacks.
Binoculars may be rented out and an illustrated guide to bird
species can be purchased in the lodge's gift shop.
Rate $25.00 per person.
